I have my 2nd watch still.

Now here is the story of why I have that 2nd watch and not the first. Frugal parents with a large family. I also started out with a child-sized Timex handwinder. It was a Christmas present, and like many of my gifts during this time in the early 1970's it was a 2nd-hand watch. I wanted my own watch bad, and I'm sure my dad went to the local jeweller and asked about any resale watches he had. I wore it for a couple of years (I think 3rd-4th grades). I received the Waltham (again, a 2nd-hand watch as it was at least a decade old then) for Christmas as a upgrade to the Timex since I had physically grown and a mid-sized mens watch was a better fit. They repossessed the Timex, and I'm sure it went back to the jeweller as part of a trade-in.

No way likely you had a quartz Timex handed down in 1977 or earlier. BF Hammer 107 March 28, 2017 02:55PM
You're probably right - I can't remember - my dad had a lot of Timex mechanicals. (n/t) Mike D 73 April 03, 2017 08:10PM

Still, that's a cool Waltham. Thumbs Up Do you juggle? (n/t) Zeb 105 March 24, 2017 04:28PM
I tried to learn juggling, but I'm terrible at it. I can barely juggle scarves, and had small success with bouncing balls off the floor. (n/t) BF Hammer 133 March 24, 2017 04:36PM
I used to be pretty good before my joints disintegrated. I was a big spazzy nerd, so having such a skill was awesome. Smile (n/t) Zeb 121 March 24, 2017 04:48PM

I wish. Sad It was an early '60s Timex boys watch. Probably been gone 50 years now. (n/t) jhargrave 119 March 24, 2017 01:18PM
I probably chucked it in the mid 1980s as a teenager wearing a Casio calculator watch. (n/t) JohnSNY 133 March 24, 2017 01:11PM
Nope. I had a bad habit of taking things apart to see how they worked. Zeb 123 March 24, 2017 12:54PM
