Honestly, I consider almost all my watches disposable. They will most likely last the rest of my life

Then someone else can decide if it's worth saving. However, I do prefer mechanical watches because of the large collection effect. I only wear a quartz watch a few times before it needs a battery. And i have had many more quartz watches stop working, even with a battery change. For example, my Bulova Precisionist. I got it on sale, and I probably will not invest in fixing it.

Out of probably a couple hundred mechanical watches I've owned, I've only had one actually stop working. So the numbers are in favor of mechanical at this point in time, which is about 15 years of watch collecting. So some are pretty old.

Basically, buy watches that you like and will wear. Don't worry about the future. Smile
