Yeah, I was afraid there is always a 'but'...
avatar July 12, 2018 03:48AM
The problem is, we have a large bubble of natural gas in our country, but it is situated in the north of our country and inhabitants of the area experience earth quakes regularly and a lot of nice older buildings are severely damaged. People don't feel safe anymore. Still there is/was a enormous economic importance to get the gas out of the bottom. After years and years of protest our Government finally said, OK, it's enough, we stop pumping gas (after they diminished it in the last years), but then we need to do a large energy transition in our country. We also need to reduce our CO2 production, so companies and households: we are increasing the natural gas prices in the coming years (actually fining us for using CO2 producing heating gas) to stimulate home owners to invest in heat pumps, solar panels and so on, and so on...
People with insufficient funds will be helped paying for their gas...(they promise, but I heard so many promises) This winter, we just invested in a brand new central heating kettle as the old one broke down during a extreme cold spell... I still want to use that thing for the next 15, 20 years. Hybrid heat pumps, solar panels, they cost me more then I saved for and we still haven't paid off our mortgage...
