I think I have a broken quartz movement Sad
avatar November 02, 2018 01:42PM
One of my finest G-Shocks, the MRG121 seemed to be out of battery. I thought it was strange as not very long ago I changed its Energizer 2016. Took another from the pack I bought, (good to 2024) put it in, but it does the same as the 'old' one, seconds hand goes bit forward and backwards. I tested both batteries and both has 3.2V, exactly as it says on the battery (3V). Is it broken, or what can it be? when I opened it this afternoon and I reset the battery, it seemed to run again for a while, but later it stopped half an hour later.

I feels really as a blessing, that Mike figured that out and just a little later, I needed the same solution! James T. Kirk© 44 November 03, 2018 01:36PM

Thank you, but with shipping and all it might get expensive. I still have a local watchmaker and he's pretty good, but first I try contact cleaner. (n/t) James T. Kirk© 43 November 03, 2018 02:03AM

That's what my Citizen 800m was doing. I have a battery tester, so I tested and made sure my batteries were good... Mike D 49 November 02, 2018 02:19PM
Never heard of that brand, but I might have some Philips contact cleaner (n/t) James T. Kirk© 45 November 03, 2018 01:59AM
Not a brand name, it is the special spray you are supposed to use to clean a Mass Airflow Sensor in an automobile. BF Hammer 48 November 03, 2018 07:52AM
Got it, and never heard of, but I'm not a mechanic... Wink James T. Kirk© 44 November 03, 2018 01:45PM
I will add to this discussion that a plain voltmeter is not the best way to measure a battery. Png Attachments BF Hammer 55 November 02, 2018 02:41PM
I believe you, but it's the best I have and it says if a battery is dead, almost or not at all Wink (n/t) James T. Kirk© 47 November 03, 2018 02:01AM
I'm sure that one is better than what I use, but this one does work, at least, although probably not very accurate for reasons you outlined Jpeg Attachments Mike D 53 November 02, 2018 03:22PM
