I've tried several options...

...first I got a Nikon 1: tiny enough for coat pockets, interchangable lenses and dirt cheap (used on ebay) were the main reasons for me. As long as you stay at ISO 400 and less the picture quality is ok, but as soon as the light turns bad the quality goes down.
Then I got an Olympus TG-4 point and shoot: it's RAW capable and water resistant! Same deal here: as long as you stay below ISO 400 the quality is ok, but in poor light...
...in the end I'm spoiled by DSLR sensors: they can't be matched in low light and the amount of detail you get more compared to small sensors is amazing. I use the Olympus quite regulary now, but when I have the chance I still use the D610.

Is the RX100 RAW capable? Having a small camera as alternative is good though Micha 795 April 20, 2016 09:05AM
Yes. Decent performance through ISO 800, usable at 1600, so-so higher than that. (n/t) Dre 780 April 20, 2016 09:23AM
I've not played with new cameras for a couple of years. Jpeg Attachments BF Hammer 856 April 11, 2016 06:34PM
